NILES - No matter where you drive in Niles, there is construction being done.
Currently there are road construction projects on North Fifth Street, South 11th and other various locations all over town.
The Wells Street work, which was expected to begin on July 1, will include the installation of storm sewer pipe line, the hauling in of 6,000 cubic yards of fill material and restoration of the area. The work being completed is on Wells Street just north of Kensington Drive.
Another project being tackled during this summer construction season is the safety improvements to the intersection area of Third Street and Silverbrook Avenue.
Work on this project is scheduled to begin near the end of July and is being funded both locally and federally.
Most of the people who have called have been very reasonable and as far as I know all of the complaints received so far have been resolved." Coulston added.
MDOT officials have been working on two different projects in the Niles area.
One of them is the widening, straightning of a curve and resurfacing of M-51 between Pucker and Main streets.
This project is scheduled to be completed by the end of October.
MDOT is also working to replace the Brandywine Creek culvert on South 11th Street, near the US-12.
Work on this project began in early June and is scheduled to be completed in late September.
