Three-week drug probe nets Cassopolis man

CASSOPOLIS - Cass County Drug Enforcement Team arrested a Cassopolis man for dealing marijuana in the village of Cassopolis on Wednesday, June 29.
A three-week investigation into narcotics dealing in both Cassopolis and the Diamond Lake area culminated in the arrest of Brett Joseph Martynowicz, 20, of Cassopolis.
The arrest occurred after Martynowicz allegedly sold a quantity of the drug to an undercover officer near South Street in Cassopolis.
Immediately after the drugs were sold to the officer, drug team investigators took Martynowicz into custody after a short foot chase.
More than $300 in cash was discovered on the suspect's person upon his arrest.
Martynowicz was lodged in the Cass County Jail and arraigned in Fourth District Court on Thursday, June 30, on charges of delivery of marijuana and resisting and obstructing officers.
His bond has been set at $30,000 cash or surety.
