Sale of 6.25 acres in the industrial park to Fortuna Excavating won approval Monday night from Dowagiac City Council.
The price, $1,250 per acre, yields a total of $7,812.50.
This property is at the south end of Woodhouse Drive, adjacent to CMI Architectural.
Fortuna intends to construct a new 5,000- to 10,000-square-foot building to accommodate its excavation business currently located in Howard Township.
City Manager William H. Nelson Jr. said their development initially will bring two full-time and two part-time employees to Dowagiac.
The property purchase is contingent on the granting of an easement allowing access from the industrial park to a parcel immediately to the south.
In addition to the sale of industrial park property on Monday night's council agenda to Fortuna Excavating, the Demskis purchased the old Thermocast building in the park.
City Manager Bill Nelson said they intend to clean it up and to begin their recycling operations there as soon as possible.
Demskis are also nearing submission of a site plan for the property that they purchased from the city earlier this year.
