Five kids caught up in drug bust

The Cass County Drug Enforcement Team served a search warrant at a residence on Wood Street in Vandalia at approximately 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15.
Narcotics detectives obtained information that the residents were using and selling methamphetamine and marijuana.
Upon entering the residence both substances were discovered. This included more than $250 in methamphetamine and more than $1,000 in marijuana plants growing in the home.
More than $400 in cash and packaging materials were also seized from the residence.
There were two couples living at the residence. Both couples had children ranging in age from 3 weeks to 5 years old. Michigan Department of Human Services personnel were present at the time of the search and the five children were placed in their custody pending a hearing in Cass County Family Court.
The adults (two men and two women) were all arrested at the scene and charged with multiple narcotics charges including manufacture of marijuana, possession with intent to deliver marijuana and methamphetamine, maintaining a drug house and child endangerment. All were lodged in the Cass County Jail to await arraignment today in Fourth District Court, Cassopolis.
