Lady Rangers eliminated

WHITE PIGEON - The Cassopolis varsity softball team saw its offense disappear against Colon Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the Division 4 district tournament at White Pigeon High School.
Four unearned runs cost Cassopolis in its semifinal contest against the Lady Magi.
The Lady Rangers (12-18) dropped a 4-1 decision to Colon in the second game of the Division 4 tournament.
Colon scored a pair of unearned runs in both the second and fourth innings.
Colon had just five hits in the contest, but took advantage of four Cassopolis errors.
Randi Hoffman took the loss despite allowing just one run on three hits with a strike out.
Symone Pompey worked the final four innings of the contest, allowing two runs on two hits with four strike outs.
Bailey Wyant had the lone hit for the Lady Rangers.

In its final regular season doubleheader on Wednesday, June 1, the Cassopolis varsity softball team split a doubleheader with visiting Marcellus.
Cassopolis scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to win the opening game, 9-8.
The winning run scored on a wild pitch that got over the backstop.
Cassopolis led 3-0 after one inning, however, Marcellus tied the game at 3-3 with three runs in the top of the second.
The Lady Wildcats took a 4-3 lead in the top half of the third, but trailed 5-4 after three innings as the Lady Rangers scored two runs in the bottom of the third.
Cassopolis scored two more runs in the fourth inning to open up a 7-4 advantage, however, Marcellus scored four times in the sixth inning to grab an 8-7 advantage
Cassopolis then completed the scoring with two runs in the seventh.
Kayla Green picked up the victory in relief of Randi Hoffman.
Cassopolis finished with 11 hits, including two doubles and a single by Jessica Frucci. The Lady Rangers also got a double and a single from Ashley Solloway, while Jealyn Foston and Baily Wyant each had two hits.
In the nightcap, Marcellus led 2-0 after an inning of play before Cassopolis scored four runs in the bottom of the second.
Marcellus countered with two runs in the top of the third, but still trailed 5-4 after the Lady Rangers scored a run in the bottom of the third.
It was all Marcellus after that. The Lady Wildcats scored three in the fourth, one in the sixth and three in the seventh. Cass scored one in the sixth and two in the seventh.
Symone Pompey took the loss.
Cass outhit Marcellus 10-6 with Becky File finished with a triple and a single. Solloway and Hoffman both had two hits.
