Eddies eliminated in district semifinals

STEVENSVILLE - The Edwardsburg baseball and softball team were eliminated in the Division 2 district tournament semifinals on Saturday.
The Eddies dropped a 4-3 decision to eventual champion St. Joseph in the opening semifinal.
The Bears scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to advance to the championship game.
The Eddies led 3-0 before St. Joseph rallied with three runs in the second to knot the score.
Edwardsburg finished with three hits, including a double by Jesse Johnson and a home run by losing pitcher Zac Rooney.
St. Joseph finished with seven hits. Derek Bross picked up the mound victory.
St. Joseph defeated arch rival Lakeshore, which upset Niles, in the title game.

Single runs in the first and third innings and two runs in the fifth advanced eventual district champion Dowagiac to the finals on Saturday.
Edwardsburg managed five hits off of Dowagiac's Ashley Willis.
Jenna Bowman allowed nine hits in taking the loss, including a pair of doubles by Brittney Reist, plus a double and a triple by Mandy Parish.
Dowagiac went on to defeat defending state champion Lakeshore in 13 innings, 4-3.
