Cass’ Kelsey Gordon places in two events at Division 4 state track meet

Cassopolis' Kelsey Gordon scored all of her team's points on Saturday at the Division 4 state track finals in Grand Rapids at Houseman Field.
Saginaw Valley Lutheran was the Division 4 girls' champion with 46 points.
Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest and Ubly tied for second with 44 points.
Reading was fourth with 39.5 points while Flint Hamady was fifth with 32 points.
Cassopolis' Gordon finished third in the high jump with a height of 5-feet-4.
Shelly Mathewson of Bellevue won the meet with a jump of 5-5. Heather McDaniel of Rochester Hills Lutheran Northwest was second with a height of 5-4.
McDaniel finished second due to fewer misses at previous heights.
Amy Wolf of Saginaw Valley Lutheran also cleared 5-4 to finish fourth.
In the 400-meters, Gordon finished sixth with a time of 1:00.5.
Erin Dillon of Reading won the event with a time of 57.98. Jade Kaufman of Ubly was second with a time of 1:00.19.
Also competing on Saturday for the Lady Rangers were Fortune Boykins, Sara McIntyre and DeeDee Hawkins.
E.J. Harris was the lone competitor for Cassopolis in the boys' meet.
In Division 3, Edwardsburg finished with 3.5 points as Doug Shuttleworth finished in a tie for fifth in the high jump.
Frankenmuth won the meet with 51 points. Detroit Country Day was second with 47.5 points and Albion third with 45 points.
Lakeland Conference school Berrien Springs was fourth with 41 points and Goodrich fifth with 25 points.
Shuttleworth cleared 6-1 to tie with Kyle Homes of Detroit Country Day.
Four other jumpers cleared 6-1 to tie for seventh place.
Also competing on Saturday in Comstock Park for the Eddies were Derek Eden, Riquelle Allemon and Stephanie Koontz and Linda Phillipson.
