Dowagiac blanks Edwardsburg in semifinal victory

STEVENSVILLE - Dowagiac and Lakeshore both got shut outs in the Division 2 semifinals on Saturday.
The Chieftains (32-4) blanked Edwardsburg 4-0 in the second semifinal. Lakeshore shut out Niles in the opening game of the tournament, 5-0.
Dowagiac got on top early and then turned the game over to pitcher Ashley Willis and the Chieftain defense.
Dowagiac scored a run in the first, a run in the third and two in the fifth to complete the scoring.
All the runs came with two outs.
Senior catcher Mandy Parish did most of the damage, driving in three of the four runs.
Parish singled home the first run, drove in another run in the third with a single and then drove home the third run with a triple.
Parish also scored the Chieftains' fourth run on a wild pitch.
Willis (13-2) went the distance, allowing five hits and striking out seven. Willis did not walk a batter.
Reist had a pair of doubles for the Chieftains, who also got a doubles from Luthringer and Willis.
Jenna Bowman took the loss for the Lady Eddies.
