NILES - Niles' Nicole Horvath and Isaiah Glaze have been chosen as the Niles Daily Star Athletes of the Week for May 23-29.
Horvath not only placed fifth in the 100-meter hurdles at the Big 16 Track &Field Championships last week held at St. Joseph High School, but she also set a new school record in the pole vault clearing 8-feet. The old record was 7-feet-9.
Glaze won the conference title last week at the Big 16 Conference Track &Field Championships when he captured the win in the 100-meter. Glaze also took a first place win at the Team State Championships Saturday in the 100-meters and took fifth in the 200 meters.
In April, each senior Athlete of the Week winner from all three sports seasons will submit an application for the scholarship.
Spring sports athletes will be eligible for the 2006 Athlete of the Year Scholarship.
