Reist, Northrop excel between the lines for Chieftains

Seniors Brittney Reist and Jeromy Northrop both know how to turn it up when they step between the lines or on the mat for the Chieftains.
On Thursday night they were rewarded for all their hard work by picking up the All-Sports Awards at the 56th annual All-Sports Awards Banquet at Dowagiac Union High School.
Reist has lettered in basketball, volleyball and softball during her career at Dowagiac.
She had three varsity letters in basketball, three varsity letters in volleyball and four varsity letters in softball.
Reist will attend Western Michigan University on a softball scholarship.
Reist was the captain of the varsity basketball team this past year and was named honorable mention all-district.
In volleyball she was an honorable mention all-district pick as a junior. She was named the team's Most Valuable Player this season.
In softball she has been the MVP in both her junior and senior years. She has set the career home run mark with 10.
In her four years Reist has earned 10 varsity letters. She was named the top freshman female athlete and has been named all-division four times and was an all-district selection in softball as a junior.
The all-district team will be selected upon the completion of the district tournament which begins on Saturday.
Northrop played two years of junior varsity baseball, four years of football, earning varsity letters twice, and wrestled for four years.
Northrop was also awarded the team MVP trophy for wrestling.
This past year Northrop placed fifth in the 145-pound weight class in Division 3. He placed sixth at the state meet his junior year.
Northrop was a two-time district runner-up and a two-time regional champion. He has better than 100 career victories.
