NILES - The Niles Township Police and Fire Departments responded Friday morning at 10:10 a.m. to a house break-in at Richard Milewski's home on Fulkerson Road in Niles Township. A Niles Dial-A-Ride driver reported she had seen the suspect jump through the front window of the residence and believed "it" was still inside. The "suspect" was described as having four legs, short white tail, small antlers and is believed to be a member of the Michigan White Tail Deer gang.
Officers and the homeowner, who just arrived home, entered the home cautiously and observed the suspect in the back family room of the residence. The suspect was unwilling to cooperate and attempts by the officers to calm the suspect down were unsuccessful.
Prior to any attempts to apprehend, the suspect jumped through a window, nearly colliding with the homeowner and a Niles Township fireman. The suspect was last seen jumping over a nearly six-foot-tall fence, hurtling shrubbery and fleeing on hoof northbound on Westfield Drive.
Witnesses report that the suspect fled into the woods where it is believed the gang has a hideout. Damage to the home is estimated at $2,000-5,000.
There is no reward for information leading to the arrest or apprehension of this fugitive and Crime Stoppers will not accept any calls on "its" whereabouts. Dr. Brandt of River Valley Equine Center responded and advised that the suspect would most likely survive the injuries once it made it safely to its hideout.
This information was provided by the Niles Township Police Department.
