Drug team makes five arrests in Porter Township

CASSOPOLIS - Cass County Drug Enforcement Team announced the arrests of five suspects in relationship to a search warrant served on a Porter Township residence.
Investigators, acting upon information gained from a traffic stop by Cass County road patrol deputies on Monday, May 23, served a search warrant on Tuesday, May 24, at approximately 8:30 p.m. at a residence in the 63000 block of Williamsville Street, south of Vandalia in Porter Township.
Discovered at the residence were components to manufacture methamphetamine, actual methamphetamine and marijuana. Also seized were numerous firearms and a substantial amount of money.
The five occupants of the residence were all arrested for various narcotics-related charges including: manufacture of methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine and marijuana, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony as well as maintaining a drug house.
The Michigan Department of Human Services was also called to the scene to investigate the welfare of an infant found at the residence. The child had been left in the care of the owners of the residence because the mother of the infant had been arrested the evening before on possession of methamphetamine charges.
The suspects were lodged in the Cass County Jail to await arraignment today in Fourth District Court in Cassopolis.
