The Dowagiac varsity soccer team lacked offense in its Big 16 Conference Tournament opener against visiting Kalamazoo Loy Norrix.
The Chieftains (4-7-1) dropped a 3-1 decision to the Lady Knights.
Loy Norrix scored all three goals in the first half, while Dowagiac's Kyleigh Mott tallied the lone Chieftain goal in the 43rd minute.
Dowagiac was outshot by Loy Norrix 16-15.
The Chieftains are expecting to host Coldwater on Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the second round of the tournament.
