Dowagiac JV splits with Berrien Springs

The Dowagiac junior varsity baseball team split a non-conference doubleheader against Berrien Springs on Saturday.
The Shamrocks won the opening game 7-4, while the Chieftains took the second game, 6-3.
Dowagiac is now 15-7 on the year.
Tyler First (2-2) took the loss as he allowed seven runs on five hits over three innings. Alex Withorn worked the fourth inning.
Tony Saviano had two hits, whkile Jacob Kling was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI. In the second game Reggie Fritz went the distance to earn his first win of the season. Fritz allowed three runs on five hits with two strike outs.
Richie Hutchinson was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Stover drove in two runs, while Kyle Prak singled and drove in a run.
The Dowagiac junior varsity softball team swept host Berrien Springs on Saturday, 16-0 and 9-0.
Katie Roach (13-0) tossed a one-hitter with six strike outs in the opening game.
Sara Ausra doubled and singled for the Chieftains, who also got a double from Amelia First.
In the second game, Lori Key (9-3) tossed a two-hitter with five strike outs.
Allison Frontczak had three hits and Katie Hewitt two hits.
