Bobcats split with Comets

NILES - Talk about day and night.
Two different Brandywine varsity baseball teams showed up for its Lakeland Conference doubleheader against visiting Coloma Wednesday afternoon.
The Bobcats (10-15, 5-7 LAC) dropped the opening game to the Comets, 7-3, but rallied to take the nightcap, 10-0.
Coloma used a pair of three-run inning to take the opening game from the Bobcats.
Brandywine scored a run in the first to lead the contest and then scored twice in the sixth to cut the lead to 6-3.
Jake Harris (4-6) took the loss.
Brandywine finished with four hits, led by Josh Atwood who homered and had three RBIs. Matt Wieger finished with a single and double.
In the second game the Bobcats scored seven times in the third inning to take an 8-0 lead on the Comets.
Brandywine added two runs in the fifth to end the game due to the mercy rule.
Kory Bridges (5-4) earned the mound victory.
Offensively the Bobcats finished with 10 hits, including another home run by Atwood, who now has 10 round-trippers on the season. Atwood finished with three hits (single, double) and three RBIs.
Zach Bennett also homered for Brandywine and drove in two runs. Justin Ely had a double, a single and two RBIs.
The Bobcats host Cassopolis on Tuesday.
