DUHS thinclads defeated

The Dowagiac boys' and girls' track teams wrapped up Big 16 Conference West Division meets on Tuesday in Stevensville against the Lakeshore Lancers.
The Chieftain girls' team was defeated 126-35, while the boys' squad was defeated 139-44.
Ashley Urbanski won three events and finished second in a fourth for the Chieftains.
Urbanski won the 100-meters with a time of 13.08, the long jump with a leap of 15-0.75 and was part of the school record-setting 400-meter relay team which ran a time of 52.32.
Urbanski was joined on the squad by Anne O'Keefe, Katy Stuppy and Sada Nealey.
Urbanski was second in the pole vault with a height of eight-feet.
O'Keefe won the pole vault with a height of 9-6, while Nealey was also a double winner as she captured the 200-meters with a time of 29.43.
Finishing third for the Chieftains were Samantha Stone in the 100-meter hurdles (22.19), and Jessica Pence in the 200-meters (31.28).
Taking fourth on Tuesday were Stone (300-meter hurdles), Nealey (long jump) and Kate Duszynski (discus).
Dowagiac also had plenty of success in the boys' meet as Sam Preston, Brad Lee, Elijah Caldwell, Isaiah Jones and Kyle Bennett all brought home first place finishes.
Preston won the 1,600-meters with a time of 5:02.99, while Lee won the 800-meters with a clocking of 2:12.44.
Caldwell won the 200-meters in 23.89 and Jones won the long jump with a leap of 20-11.75.
Bennett won the pole vault with a height of 12-6.
Finishing second for the Chieftains were Jones in the 100-meters (11.44), Jason Tabbert in the 3,200-meters (11:43.02), Ryan Withorn in the shot put (41-1.5) and Bennett in the discus (113-3.5).
Taking third was James Laymon in the long jump (18-7.75).
Finishing fourth were Brandon Lebeda (110-meter hurdles), Caldwell (100-meters), Russell Sizemore (200-meters), Jones (high jump) and Ryan Casey (shot put).
Dowagiac will travel to Allegan on Friday for an invitational meet.
