NILES - For the second year the Christian Education Coalition is hosting a banquet to honor graduates and students who have worked toward success throughout the year.
The banquet will be held on Saturday, May 14 at 6 p.m. at the Michiana Party Hall located at 2809 S. 11th St. in Niles. The event is being hosted by Mount Calvary Baptist Church of Niles and New Good Hope Baptist Church of Buchanan.
The event also helps to assist students who have chosen to further their education by either attending college or a vocational school.
This event was started two years ago when Pastor Bryant L. Bacon of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, who was the newly elected pastor of the church, wanted to get together with other area churches, to honor the children.
Bacon added that he along with Pastor James I. Robinson of New Good Hope Baptist Church are very proud of this program and look forward to recognizing the youth.
The theme this year is Spiritual Hands Reaching out with a Vision to Promote Higher Education. Cynthia McCall of Niles is going to be the keynote speaker and Keith Carter of WSBT-News 22 will be the host for the evening.
