Dowagiac thinclads finish seventh at St. Joseph-Lakeshore Relays

The Dowagiac track team finished seventh in the combined overall scoring at Friday night's St. Joseph-Lakeshore Relays held at Dickenson Stadium.
St. Joseph won the combined team title in the inuagural event with 154 points. Lakeshore was second with 143 points, while Temperance-Bedford was third with 141 points.
Portage Central finished fourth (123), Edwardssburg fifth (72), Parchment sixth (70), Dowagiac seventh (67) and Covert eighth (10).
St. Joseph was first in the girls' portion of the meet with 94 points. Lakeshore was second, Temperance Bedford third, Portage Central fourth, Parchment fifth, Dowagiac sixth, Edwardsburg sevennth and Covert eighth.
In the boys' portion of the meet, Temperance-Bedford was first with 78 points. Lakeshore was second, Portage Central third, St. Joseph fourth, Edwardsburg fifth, Dowagiac sixth, Parchment seventh and Covert eighth.
Dowagiac grabbed three second place finishes in the girls' meet.
Ann O'Keefe and Ashley Urbanski were second in the pole vault relay with a height of 17-feet-6.
Urbanski, O'Keefe and Sade Nealy were second in the long jump with a distance of 43-1.25.
O'Keefe, Urbanski, Katy Stuppy and Nealy were second in the 400-meter relay with a time 53.06.
Dowagiac was fifth in the spring medley relay with a time of 2:01.84 and fifth in the discus relay with a distance of 194.02.5.
The sprint medley relay team consisted of Urbanski, Briana Wolverton, Stuppy and O'Keefe.
The discus relay team was made up of Kate Duzynski, Cari Spencer and Ashley Gonic.
In the boys' meet, the 400-meter relay team of Isaiah Jones, Russell Sizemore, James Laymon and Elijah Caldwell took first place with a time of 45.96.
Jones, Sizemore, Caldwell and Sam Preston were second in the sprint medley relay with a time of 1:40.15.
The 400-meter coed relay team of Jones, Nealey, Caldwell and Stuppy were third with a time of 50.44.
Dowagiac was fourth in the discus relay with a distance of 311-05.5. That team consisted of Kyle Bennett, Ryan Withorn and Ryan Casey.
Dowagiac was fifth in the pole vault relay (Bennett) with a height of 12-feet. Preston finished fifth in the 800-meters with a time of 2:11.64.
The shot put relay team of Casey, Withorn and Josh Kopaceski was also fifth with a distance of 112-2.
Dowagiac returns to the track on Tuesday when it travels to Stevensville to take on Lakeshore in a Big 16 Conference West meet.
