Brandywine thinclads perform well Saturday

NILES - The Brandywine boys' track team finished fourth at the Centreville Invitational on Saturday, while the girls' team finished seventh.
Gobles won both portions of the meet.
The Tigers scored 144 points to easily outdistance runner-up Mendon in the boys' meet. Mendon finished with 83.5 points. Centreville was third with 74 points and Brandywine fourth with 73 points.
Colon, Kalamazoo Hackett, Martin and Decatur rounded out the order of finish.
The Lady Tigers scored 1114 points to win the girls' meet over Hackett, which finished with 95 points. Centreville was third with 85 points and Colon fourth with 73 points.
Mendon, Decatur, Brandywine and Martin rounded out the order of finish. Brandywine finished with 20 points.
Jordan Bruni won the pole vault for the Bobcats with a height of 12-feet-0.75.
Ricky Wood finished second in the 800-meters with a time of 2:08.2, while Kyle Perry tied for second in the pole vault with a height of 11-6. Ryan Hartman finished second in the discus with a toss of 116-8. Hartman was fifth in the shot put.
Caleb Frazier was third in the 400-meters with a time of 54.5.
Taking fourth for the Bobcats were Brian Wieger in the 1,600-meters, Jesse Daniels in the 400-meters and Frazier in the 200-meters.
Finishing fifth were Matt Duckett in the 110-meter high hurdles and Justin Price in the 400-meters.
Brandywine was third in the 3,200-meter relay and fourth in the 1,600-meter relay.
Brandywine's Michelle Smith made it a clean sweep in the pole vault as she captured the title with a height of 8-3.5.
Lisa Konopinski was fourth in the discus and fifth in the 1,600-meter run. She was also fifth in the 3,200-meter run.
