Vikings rebound with win over Shamrocks

NILES - After letting Wednesday's tennis match against Marshall slip away, The Niles tennis team bounced back and picked up a 7-1 win against visiting Berrien Springs Thursday afternoon.
Ari Fernandez fell in a close first set 6-7, but rebounded in the second and third sets to pick up the 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles. At No. 2 singles, Colin Smith took the 6-3, 6-4 win over John Yoon.
Nate Fink also went three sets at No. 3 singles and the outcome was in favor of him as he defeated David Moskala 6-2, 5-7, 6-2.
Nick Neumann took the 7-6, 6-3 win at No. 4 singles against James Yoon.
Dan Rodts and Julian Freas took the 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles over Jon Ross and Josh Gordon. Babler said Rodts and Freas started off 0-3, but rebounded well.
At No. 2 doubles Jon Smith and Jeff Pugh defeated Joe Furner and Fred Born 6-4, 6-1.
Jon Poole and Mark Neeser suffered the only loss of the day for the Vikes at No. 3 doubles against Caylin Boswell and Jon Bagby 1-6, 3-6 and Levi Grooms and Skyler Mudd won at No. 4 doubles against Halin Chung and Martin Soper 6-1, 6-0.
The Vikings, now 4-4 overall, will compete at the Paw Paw invitational on Saturday. Match times are set to begin at 9 a.m.
