Vikes split with Comets

NILES - The lady Vikes just can't seem to get past their defensive problems.
Thursday evening Niles hosted Coloma and split a pair of non-conference games with the Comets.
Even with some major problems on defense in the first game, the Vikes were able to make up their mistakes and offense and took the 4-3 win.
The score was tied heading into the third inning, but Coloma was able to add three quick runs on Niles errors that allowed the Comets to take the 3-0 lead.
Niles wasn't finished though and scored four runs before claiming the 4-3 first game victory.
Julie Kater was the winning pitcherfor the Vikes.
The Vikes had were able to pull ahead in the first game, but the outcome of the second was in favor of the visiting Comets as they took the 8-4 win.
Niles will have to sharpen up its defense on Tuesday when it travels to Dowagiac for a pair of non-conference games set to begin at 4 p.m. The Chiefs are currently 17-4.
