Cassopolis' Jason Rietveld and Dowagiac's Katy Stuppy have been named the Leader Publications Athletes of the Week for the week of April 25-30.
Rietveld tossed a two-hitter in the first game and had three doubles in the championship game as the Cass baseball team won the Bangor Invitational on Saturday.
Stuppy won the 200-meters and was part of the winning 400-meter relay team for Dowagiac at the Rotary Meet on Friday.
Each week, the athletic directors from Dowagiac, Cassopolis and Edwardsburg will nominate players for the Athlete of the Week.
In April, each senior Athlete of the Week winner from all three sports seasons will submit an application for the scholarship. 2006 Athlete of the Year Scholarship.
Leader Publications will then select a boys' and girls' Athlete of the Year from either Cassopolis, Dowagiac or Edwardsburg.
The two athletes will receive a scholarship for an as yet to be determined amount.
The winners will be named in May.
