Successful night for Niles track team

ST. JOSEPH - The Niles varsity track team had a very successful night at the 48th annual Rotary Track Meet at St. Joseph High School.
The best runners from Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties gathered to compete in the event.
Niles captured the boys' 3,200-meter relay as Nicolas Schuck, Austin Neilson, Daniel Geiger and Logan Todd ran a time of 8:52.7.
Andrew Wuthnow won the 800-meters with a time of 2:04.87.
Niles also won the 400-meter relay as Quinten Kling, Otis West, Brandon Spicer and Isaiah Glaze posted a time of 45.35.
Other placers for the Vikings were David Davis in the long jump (5th), Aubrey Hopkins in the shot put (3rd), Kurt Poehlman in the high jump (3rd), Todd in the 1,600-meters (2nd), King in the 200-meters (3rd), Neilson in the 3,200-meters (3rd) and Stephan Scally in the 3,200-meters (4th).
Niles was also third in the 800- and 1,600-meter relays.
Brandywine finishers were Jordan Bruni in the pole vault (5th), Ryan Hartman in the discus (3rd), Caleb Frazier in the high jump (5th), Justin Price in the 400-meters (4th) and Brian Wieger in the 1,600-meters (5th).
Brandywine was third in the 3,200-meter relay and fourth in the 1,600-meter relay.
In the girls' events, Niles got a third place effort from Ashley Austin in the shot put, a fifth place finish from Chelsea Bennett in the discus, a fourth place effort from Nicole Horvath in the 100-meter hurdles, a fourth place jump from Liz Durm in the pole vault, a second and fourth place finish in the high jump from Alex Ranft and Brandie Raddie respectively.
A fifth place finish from Samantha Brawley in the 1,600-meters, a fourth place effort from Mariette Strauss in the 800-meters, a fifth place finish from Tami Madison in the 800, a fourth place run from Kaylynn Stephanson in the 200-meters, a second place finish in the 400-meters from Autumn Grayson and a second place finish from Brawley in the 3,200-meters.
Niles finished third in the 3,200-meter relay, second in the 800-meter relay and third in the 1,600-meter relay.
Brandywine's 3,200-meter relay team finished fourth.
Niles hosts Dowagiac in a Big 16 Conference West Division meet on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
