BUCHANAN - Cold, wet and a light rain may have made the spectators uncomfortable Friday night, however, the action on the field was red hot.
While neither team came away with a victory, Buchanan and Dowagiac were pleased with the 1-1 non-conference tie.
Buchanan grabbed the 1-0 first half lead on a goal in the 30th minute by Dana Voratth.
Dowagiac knotted the score at 1-1 in the 43rd minute on a goal by Kyleigh Mott.
Dowagiac had the best of it when it came to shots on goal, but Buchanan keeper Robyn Bahr made some outstanding saves to keep the Lady Bucks in a deadlock with the Chieftains.
Dowagiac held a 28-19 advantage in shots on goal.
Bahr was credited with 21 saves, while Dowagiac keeper Jackie Sayre was equally impressive, stopping 11 shots.
The Lady Bucks return to action on Monday as they travel to Brandywine for a 5 p.m. match.
Dowagiac also heads back into action on Monday as it hosts Edwardsburg in a non-conference match slated to begin at 5:45 p.m.
