NILES - Niles' Tea Murphy once again came through for the Vikings soccer team by scoring Niles' one and only goal.Friday evening to give it a 1-0 win over River Valley.
Murphy gave the Lady Vikes their only goal and the win against Dowagiac Monday night and was able to repeat that scene against the Mustangs.
But Murphy wasn't the only player to shine.
Head coach Denise Peters said all of her girls are doing really well and are starting to come around.
Niles' defense gave them some problems against St. Joe Wednesday night when they fell to the Bears 11-1, but Friday night was a much different story.
They wanted the ball," Peters said.
Murphey's goal was assisted by Danielle Sherwood with 13:32 left to play.
The Vikings made another goal before that, but it wasn't counted due to a hand ball.
River Valley was not an easy match up. Although this is only their first year playing, the team is used to playing against guys and have quite a few girls who can handle their own, so Peters and her team was very pleased with the win.
Niles will host a SMAC East game on Wednesday. Gmae time is set to begin at 6:45 p.m.
