The Dowagiac varsity golf team has gone with a youth movement as the season progresses.
On Thursday, Dowagiac traveled to Battle Creek to face Harper Creek at Binder Park Golf Course.
Host Harper Creek scored an easy 223-287 victory against five freshman and a sophomore.
Harper Creek's Kelly Zaborsky earned medalist honors on Thursday with a round of 50.
Battle Creek also got a pair of 57s from Lia Koski and Amanda Mainstone. Sara Roberson shot 59, while Catlin Peters shot 68.
Dowagiac was led by Carly Gantt's 59.
Scherer shot 70, while Brooke Lamb finished with a 77 and Aislinn Frantz shot 81. Dowagiac also got an 86 from sophomore Taylor Townsend and an 89 from Alyson Wheeler.
Dowagiac returns to Big 16 Conference West Division play on Monday when Niles hosts the next jamboree at Hampshire Country Club. Play is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m.
