Dowagiac's Jesse Cox and Amanda Fox have been named the Leader Publications Athletes of the Week for the week of April 18-23.
Cox went 5-of-9 (.555) with three RBIs last week in games for the Dowagiac varsity baseball team.
Cox also picked up a save against No. 2 ranked (Division 3) River Valley. Cox worked two-thirds of an inning. He did not give up a hit or a run.
Fox scored four goals and had a pair of assists for the Dowagiac varsity soccer team.
Each week, the athletic directors from Dowagiac, Cassopolis and Edwardsburg will nominate players for the Athlete of the Week.
In April, each senior Athlete of the Week winner from all three sports seasons will submit an application for the scholarship.
Spring sports athletes will be eligible for the 2006 Athlete of the Year Scholarship.
Leader Publications will then select a boys' and girls' Athlete of the Year from either Cassopolis, Dowagiac or Edwardsburg.
The two athletes will receive a scholarship for an as yet to be determined amount.
The winners will be named in May.
