Reist pitches perfect game against Tigers

BENTON HARBOR - A pair of no-hitters lifted visiting Dowagiac to a Big 16 Conference West Division sweep of host Benton Harbor Tuesday afternoon.
The Chieftains got a perfect game from Brittney Reist as Dowagiac won 19-0 in five innings.
Mo Pickar tossed a no-hitter in the nightcap as the Chieftains won 23-0 in three innings to improve to 13-2 on the season.
Reist struck out 10 in winning the opening game. Pickar fanned five in the nightcap.
Mandy Parish went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and four RBIs to lead the Chieftains.
Lindsay Tyler was 2-for-3 with a triple, while Brittany Bruens was 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs.
In the second game Kim Luthringer was 3-for-3 with a double and five RBIs. Dowagiac also got a 3-for-4 performance with four RBIs from Holly Lowe.
Bruens had two hits and an RBI, while Parish was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Amy Wood was 2-for-3 with three RBIs. Ashley Willis went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
Dowagiac also got RBIs from Val Johnson and Calie Daniels.
The Chieftains, who are ranked No. 8 in the current coaches poll, is back in action today as they travel to Mishawaka for a non-conference doubleheader scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. (Michigan time).
