NILES - Station two is no longer in service. Those are the words that came across the radio at the new Niles Township south fire station.
The department is officially moved into its new station as of Friday afternoon. "It really gives you goose bumps to think that we are totally out of the old station and that we won't be using it anymore, especially when its the only place you've known," said Gary Brovold, Niles Township Fire Chief.
Brovold added that the department is very excited to finally be moved into the new station. With all the additional space they now have, it will make the department able to do a lot more things.
Another nice feature at the new station, is that when the fire line rings, it automatically turns the lights on in the hallways and in the apparatus bay.
The department is still looking for donations of exercise equipment for their new exercise room and possibly for living room furniture, for their living quarters.
