Vikings tennis gets second straight win

NILES - After losing the first two matches of the season, the Niles tennis team picked up its second straight win Thursday afternoon at home against Three Rivers 7-1. Last season the Vikings were defeated by the Wildcats 5-3.
Niles defeated Bridgman last Thursday 7-1 and suffered 8-0 loses to Lakeshore and Sturgis.
Ari Fernandez picked up the win at No. 1 singles against Tyler Riewiet 6-0, 6-2. At No. 2 singles Colin Smith defeated Scott Cutter picking up the 6-2 first set win, falling in the second 3-6, but rebounded to get the 6-0 win in the third match.
Nate Fink picked up the 6-2, 6-2 win over Gary Singh at No. 3 singles and Nick Neumann suffered a 0-6, 2-6 loss at No. 4 singles against John Morrison.
Dan Rodts and Julian Freas took the win at No. 1 doubles against Josh Castle and Ben Booke 6-2, 6-3.
At No. 2 doubles Jon Smith and Jeff Pugh defeated Dennis Bell and Jordan Studabaker 6-1, 6-4.
Jon Poole and Mark Neeser took the 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles against Dave Come and Joe Cutman, while Skyler Mudd and Nacho Gaminde defeated Zach Wiso and Konrad Voits at No. 4 doubles 6-0, 6-2.
Niles, now 2-2, will return to the court Saturday morning when it travels to the Parchment Invitational. Match time is set to begin at 9 a.m.
