Dowagiac JV baseball team sweeps River Valley

The Dowagiac junior varsity baseball team swept a non-conference doubleheader from River Valley on Thursday at Russom Field.
The Chieftains (6-2) won the opening game 13-1 and then took the nightcap, 17-2.
Troy Stover (1-0) went the distance in his first start to pick up the victory. Stover allowed one hit with eight strike outs and four walks.
Kyle Prak went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, while DJ Edgerly tripled and drove in two runs.
Ryan Laylin singled anddrove in a run. Reggie Fritz and Richie Hutchinson both walked three times and scored three runs.
In the nightcap, Tyler First (1-1) picked up the victory as he worked three innings. First allowed two hits while striking out two and walking two.
Alex Withorn worked the fourth inning, giving up a hit and striking out a batter.
Kyle Prak was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, while Kyle Bailey went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs.
Dowaiac also got two hits, including a triple, from Ryan Laylin, a double, a triple and two RBIs from Mike Laylin and two hits from Keith Prak.
