Buchanan sweeps Cass

CASSOPOLIS - From the fourth inning on, visiting Buchanan dominated its Lakeland Conference doubleheader with Cassopolis Monday afternoon.
With the score deadlocked at 4-4, the Lady Bucks outscored the Lady Rangers 23-0 to earn a sweep.
Buchanan (6-4, 4-0 LAC) won the opening game 15-2 and the took the second game in five innings, 12-0.
Ashley Pointer allowed just 11 hits over the two games to pick up a pair of victories. Pointer struck out 11 and walked just one batter in 12 innings of work.
Buchanan only outhit Cassopolis 8-7 in the first game, but the Bucks took advantage of seven errors and 11 walks.
Emily Ross and Hayley Burks both tripled for Buchanan, which also got three hits from Leslie Niemier.
Cassopolis got a double and a single from Alicia Solloway and a double from Jessica Frucci.
Randi Hoffman was one of three pitchers used in the opening game by Cassopolis. She worked the first three innings, giving up two runs on four hits with three walks and a strike out.
Frucci worked three innings, allowing eight runs on three hits with six walks and a strike out.
Solloway worked the final inning, allowing five runs on one hit with two walks.
In the second game Buchanan outhit Cassopolis 9-4. The Lady Rangers committed six errors.
Ross had a single and a double for the Lady Bucks, who also got a triple from Niemier and doubles from Jaclyn Mummaw and Liz Thorton. Burks had two hits.
Cassopolis (1-6, 0-4 LAC) was led offensively by Becky File who doubled.
Symone Pompey gave up 12 runs on nine hits with a walk for the Lady Rangers.
