Cassopolis' Michelle James and Dowagiac's Kyle Bennett have been named the Leader Publications Athletes of the Week for the week of April 11-16.
James won three events in the Rangers' season opening track meet.
Bennett was the winner in the pole vault at the Paw Paw Invitational with a personal best jump of 12-feet-6.
Each week, the athletic directors from Dowagiac, Cassopolis and Edwardsburg nominate players for the Athlete of the Week.
In April, each senior Athlete of the Week winner from all three sports seasons will submit an application for the scholarship.
Leader Publications will then select a boys' and girls' Athlete of the Year from either Cassopolis, Dowagiac or Edwardsburg. Spring sports award winners will be considered for the 2006 Athlete of the Year Award.
The two athletes will receive a scholarship for an as yet to be determined amount.
The winners will be announced in May.
