Niles JV softball team off to a good start

NILES - The Niles JV softball team swept a double header from Battle Creek Central last Thursday winning 15-0 and 16-1.
Carly Gordon pitched a one hit shut-out in the first game with seven strike-outs.
Chelsea Spear and Kerri Shuler hit doubles for the Lady Vikes and Samantha Beck, Carly Gordon, Francis Semernec and Denise Echevarria all had a hit.
In the Second game Stephanie Stoops gave up one run and struck out four for the win.
Francis Semernec and Kerri Shuler had doubles, Spear had two singles along with one single for Samantha Beck.
On Friday the Lady Vikes split a double header with Brandywine's JV softball team.
Gordon received the 7-4 win striking out four Bobcat batters.
Kayleigh Sabat had a double, Stoops and Spear led all hitters with three hits each.
Beck, Gordon, Semernec, Kacey Gogley, Echevarria and Shuler all had hits for the Lady Vikes.
Stoops suffered the 6-5 loss in the closer when a long fly ball was caught in the fifth inning with two runners on to end the game.
Sabat had a double and a single to lead all hitters. Spear, Gogley, Echevarria, Gordon and Lindsey Prenkert all had hits for the Lady Vikes.
