Dowagiac takes two from Kalamazoo Loy Norrix

The Dowagiac junior varsity baseball team swept a Big 16 Conference non-divisional doubleheader from Kalamazoo Loy Norrix on Tuesday.
The Chieftains won the opening game 10-4 and then took the nightcap, 11-8.
Tony Saviano (1-0) worked five innings, allowing three runs on three hits with three strike outs and two walks. Jason Fryman pitched the sixth inning to earn the save. Fryman allowed one run with three strike outs and a walk.
Kyle Prak went 3-for-4 with a home run and an RBI. DJ Edgerly was 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Ryan Laylin doubled and drove in a run, while Saviano also doubled. Chris Primley had an RBI single, while Adam Hess was 2-for-3.
In the nightcap Edgerly started and received no decision. He worked three and two-third innings, allowing six runs on seven hits with four strikeouts and a walk. Fryman worked the final one and a third innings to improve to 3-0 on the season. He did not give up an earned run with two strike outs and two walks.
Jacob Kling went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, while Ryan Laylin was 2-for-2 with a double. Mike Laylin was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Saviano drove in a pair of runs including the tying run. Primley had a pinch-hit, game-winning RBI single.
Edgerly and Fryman also drove in runs.
Dowagiac is now 4-2 overall.
