Bobcats fall at Hudson

NILES - The Brandywine varsity baseball team didn't do as well as it wanted to this past weekend going 0-2 at the Hudson Tournament.
The Bobcats, now 5-7, faced Springport in the first game and lost a close 7-6 contest.
Brandywine had a 5-2 lead, but Springport was able to tie it up in the bottom of the fifth. Both teams scored one run in the sixth inning to stay tied at six, but Springport was able to score one run in the bottom of the eighth to claim the win.
Justin Ely was the losing pitcher for Brandywine. Josh Atwood led Cats with three hits and two RBIs. Matt Wieger, JD Miller and Alex Newman all had two hits each in the first game.
Hudson dominated the second game with a 14-4 win over Brandywine.
The Bobcats were only down by one run, 4-3, after the first inning, but Hudson was able to score seven runs in the top of the third while Brandwyine only scored one.
Another four in the top of the fifth gave Hudson a 10-run lead and the win by 10-run rule.
Alan Schoff was the losing pitcher for Brandywine. Atwood again led the Cats with two hits including a three run home run.
The Bobcats hope to do better today as they travel to Edwardsburg for a Lakeland Conference doubleheader. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
