Niles tennis team serves up victory

NILES - Niles' tennis team picked up its first win of the season Thursday night at Bridgman 7-1.
Ari Fernandez took the 6-1, 6-0 won at No. 1 singles for the Vikings over Jake Zars.
At No. 2 singles, Colin Smith win the first set 6-1, lost the second set 4-6 and won the third set 6-1 to give him the win over Dane Frandsen.
Nate Fink took the 6-0, 6-0 win over Rob Long at No. 3 singles and Nick Neumann lost to Miles Strebeck at No. 4 singles 3-6, 4-6.
At No. 1 doubles Dan Rodts and Julian Freas took the 6-1, 6-3 win over Robby Clark and Eric Clark.
Nathan Smith and Jeff Pugh took the 7-6, 6-4 win over Pat Beach and Bill Richardson at No. 2 doubles.
At No. 3 doubles Jon Poole and Mark Neeser took the 6-1, 6-1 win over Casey Berli and Roger Campbell and Levi Grooms and Nacho Gaminde lost the first match 7-8, but won the last two 6-1, 6-3 over Blake Barken and Tyler Fisher at No. 4 doubles.
The Vikings, now 1-2, return to the court next Thursday at home against Three Rivers.
Match time is set for 4:30 p.m.
