Niles tennis team blanked by Lakeshore

STEVENSVILLE - The Niles tennis team suffered an 8-0 loss Wednesday evening against Lakeshore, which looks to be a very strong team this year.
At No. 1 singles Brock Planger of Lakeshore took the 6-1, 3-6 win over Niles' Ari Fernandez. Colin Smith suffered a 0-6, 0-6 loss to Ely Planger at No. 2 singles. At No. 3 singles Nate Fink lost to Patrick Kosciuk 1-6, 0-6 and at No. 4 singles Kyle McKey of Coloma took the 6-0, 6-1 win over Nick Neumann.
At No. 1 doubles Dan rodts and Julian Freas won the first match 7-5, but suffered in the next two 2-6, 4-6 over Ben Halling and Jeff Schiman.
For the Comets, Bill Grillits and Dustin Barika took the 2-6, 1-6 win over Jon Smith and Jeff Pugh at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3 doubles Jon Poole and Mark Neeser took the 6-1 win in the first match, but lost the next two 6-7, 3-6 against Matt Weiss and John Dogget.
At No. 4 doubles Levi Grooms and Nacho Gaminde sufered a 2-6, 1-6 loss over Jeff Ong and Jake Kriczel.
The tennis team returns to action tonight when they travel to Bridgman. Match time is set for 4:30 p.m.
