BRIDGMAN - It's typically not the way teams like to open up their seasons, but Brandywine's soccer team suffered a 4-0 loss to Bridgman Tuesday night for its first match this year.
The match wasn't exactly smooth sailing and involved quite a bit of pushing and shoving. Brandywine also had a hard time keeping the ball on its end of the field.
The Bees, now 2-0, kept the Bobcats scoreless while they scored the first two goals in the first half by Ashley Piotter and Claire Pawlik, both assisted by Ashley Stanage.
In the second half it was Stanage and Gina Grosso who scored the final two goals for Bridgman, both of them unassisted.
The Bees took 22 shots, while Brandywine only took five. Amelia Harrison had eight saves for the Bobcats and Leanna Rice had five for Bridgman.
Brandywine, now 0-1, will face Dowagiac at home Thursday at 5 p.m.
