Dowagiac netters fall to Paw Paw, 7-1

The Dowagiac varsity and junior varsity tennis teams opened up their season on Tuesday in Paw Paw.
The Chieftains were defeated by Paw Paw in a non-league match, 7-1.
Dowagiac (0-1) and Paw Paw will both become members of the Wolverine Conference in the 2006-07 season.
The Chieftains lone victory came at No. 1 singles were Adam Carlson defeated Brett Seymoore 6-3 and 6-1.
Playing the remaining singles flights for the Chieftains were David Maxey, Sonny Swartz and Mike Hoff.
Playing at the four doubles flights for Dowagiac were Josue Miranda and Mike DeRose, Jon Woolsey and Aaron Wilson, Andrew Cuthbert and Tyler Cook and Henry Krohne and Kyle Kowalski.
In junior varsity play, Kevin Simpson lost 8-5, Jon Mitchell lost 8-3, Justin Dodd lost 8-1 and Eric Nus lost 7-0 in singles competition.
Chris Bogen and Josh Jerz lost 8-2, Andy Ausra and DeShaun Baylock lost 8-4, Kevin Proshwitz and Justin Cannif lost 8-4 and Richard Reese and Kyle Robbins lost 8-2.
All the junior varsity matches were pro sets.
In exhibition matches, Nus lost 7-0, Micah Null lost 8-2 and Kevin Billingham lost 8-2
