Dowagiac soccer team falls to Tigers

The Dowagiac varsity soccer team finally got to open its season Monday night.
The Chieftains, who had their season opening tournament canceled due to weather conditions on March 26, traveled to Allegan for a non-conference match.
Dowagiac opened up a 2-0 lead on the Lady Tigers, but fell to Allegan 3-2.
Hillary Bisnett scored the season-opening goal for the Chieftains in the 39th minute.
Dowagiac increased its 1-0 halftime advantage to two goals when Jill Billingham scored in the 60th minute.
Brooke Allen cut the lead to 2-1 with a goal in the 75th minute.
The Lady Tigers tied it at 2-2 in the 78th minute as Jessica McKeon tallied.
Amie Fuller got the game-winning goal in the 79th minute.
Dowagiac was outshot by the Lady Tigers, 11-8.
Jackie Sayre had nine saves.
Dowagiac returns to action on Wednesday when it travels to Benton Harbor. The varsity only match is slated to begin at 6:45 p.m.
