Crash proves fatal to Niles woman

NILES - The Niles City Police Department received a report of a car vs. truck traffic crash at the intersection of M-51 (N. 5th Street) and Wayne Street in the City of Niles around 9:28 am on Friday morning.
Witnesses state that an Oldsmobile Silhouette van driven by Ethel Skinner, 79, of 1245 Rose Niles, was traveling west on Wayne Street and stopped at the stop sign located at 5th Street.
Witnesses stated that Ethel Skinner then pulled out from the stop sign and into the path of a northbound dump truck.
Ethel Skinner passed away at the scene of the accident from the injuries she received.
The dump truck was driven by and is owned by John Szucs 2333 E. US Highway 12, Niles, MI. Mr. Szucs was not injured in the crash.
This crash is still under investigation by the Niles City Police Department and Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Officers.
