CASSOPOLIS - A tradition borrowed from South Bend, Ind. has returned for another year to the Cass County Council on Aging (COA).
Dyngus Day brings out Polish sausage and the politicians. Both were in evidence Monday noon in Cassopolis.
State Senator Ron Jelinek spoke to the seniors about how the legislators will be working on the budget when they return after spring break.
He answered questions about how the lottery money, though it is going to our schools, is only a small portion which is needed.
Al Pscholka representing Congressman Fred Upton, who couldn't be present, fit right in with the traditional Polish sausage, pierogi, and sauerkraut lunch.
State Representative Rick Shaffer spoke a few words about a topic near to his and the seniors hearts - Medicaid spending.
He said he was picked as a member of the governor's task force to look into nursing facilities and long term spending, for assisted living and those who could stay at home with assistance.
He was very positive saying, "I see real good things coming."
Also in attendance were members of the Cass County courts and Sheriff Joe Underwood.
