MISHAWAKA, Ind. - Just when it looked like McDonald's was going to have a perfect tie-in with the winner of the dunk contest Monday night at Jam Fest, Gerald Green stole the show.
Prep All-American Josh McRoberts, of Carmel High School (Ind.), looked like he was headed to a victory at Bethel College in the PowerAde Jam Fest dunk contest when Green brought the overflow crowd of 2,700 to its feet.
Green, from Golf Shores Academy (Houston, Texas), and McRoberts were tied through four elimination dunks and with one remaining, Green went verticle after bouncing the ball off the floor and onto the backboard.
Green grabbed the ball in mid-flight and rammed it home for a perfect score from celebrity judges Evander Holyfield, Ahman Green, LaPhonso Ellis and Chris Thomas.
In the boys' three-point shooting contest, Mario Chambers of Anchorage, Alaska was the winner in a shootout against Danny Green of New York, and Martell Webster of Edmond, Wash.)
Erika Arriaran of Norco, Calif., won the girls' three-point shooting contest, while Richard Hendrix of Athens, Ala. and Christina Wirth of Mesa, Ariz., won the team ball competition.
