Cass County Drug Enforcement Team investigators announce the seizure of a clandestine methamphetamine lab and marijuana grow operation in Porter Township.
On March 22, deputies of the Cass County Sheriff's Office were called to a disturbance at a residence in the 70000 block of Wayne Street at Coverdale Lake.
Upon investigating the complaint, deputies came across what appeared to be methamphetamine lab components and immediately contacted Drug Enforcement Team investigators.
Upon further investigation by team detectives, it was discovered that one of the occupants, the grandson of the owners of the residence, was producing methamphetamine and growing marijuana in the basement.
This subject was arrested and charged with multiple felony marijuana and methamphetamine counts.
He will be arraigned in Fourth District Court, Cassopolis.
Seized at the time of the incident were approximately $2,000 worth of marijuana and $200 worth of methamphetamine.
Cass County Drug Enforcement Team clandestine lab trained personnel dismantled the lab.
Due to the highly volatile nature of this particular type of lab, they were assisted by Porter Township fire and ambulance personnel.
