NILES - A fund for Brandywine schools is now a reality.
Monday the Brandywine Board of Education signed a contract with the Michigan Gateway Community Foundation to start the Brandywine Schools Improvement Fund.
The non-endowed fund can be used to fund things like scholarships, lighting at the football field and other projects.
The fund will be managed by the Michigan Gateway Community, which was started in 1978 in Buchanan and has since grown to cover Niles, and all of Cass County.
An advisory board would be set up with the district and they would be able to control what goes on with the fund.
Rider added that he has already had Brandywine alumni expressing an interest in donating to the fund.
