The Central Middle School wrestling team took on Cassopolis and River Valley on Wednesday.
The Chieftains won just nine of 19 matches against Cassopolis and four out of 11 against River Valley.
Winning matches were Aaron Talley, Jacob Weldy, D.J. Tartt, Kent Emerson, Jason Mosier, Mike Sirk, Alex Kuntz, Jeremy Kaler, Chad Ottinger, Adam Roach, Mike McNeil, John Myers and Andrew Hurrle.
Eighth grade volleyball
The Central Middle School eighth grade volleyball team lost a pair of matches to St. Joe Upton on Wednesday.
The "A" team won one of three games against St. Joseph, while the "B" team was swept by Upton.
Dowagiac's "A" team lost 19-25, 17-25 and 15-5. The "B" team lost 14-25, 7-25 and 14-16.
Alex Dean led the "A" team with 10 points. Stephanie Grabemeyer added seven points, while Brittany Gnatz and Tasia Diaz finished with six and four points respectively.
The "B" team was led by Linzy Kling's eigth points. Chelsea McIntyre and Savannah Eby finished with three and two points respectively.
