NILES - Students have to follow a new policy and be on time.
Students at Brandywine Middle School / High School will have to follow a new tardy policy as of next week.
At Monday night's Board of Education meeting the Board approved a revision of the current policy.
Principal Christine Banaszak and Assistant Principal Jim Boger presented the change on Feb. 21.
Tardies cause disruptions in classes and cut into instructional time that the students should be receiving.
The tardies have become a problem since there really is no consequence for getting a large number, with the discontinuation of after school or in school suspension programs.
The board also received a construction update from Steve Orlando of Skanska Construction.
Orlando added that the entrance tile is completely installed.
The final thing that the Board discussed was the inception of a Brandywine Public Schools Education Fund.
This fund would be established and would use the resources of the Michigan Gateway Community Foundation. It could be used for special activities and scholarships.
