NILES -- Spring is right around the corner.
With the weather getting warmer each and every day many people are begining to think about getting started on their gardening.
New gardeners may not know where to start when it comes to gardening.
Shelton said if people are looking to start a garden for the first time they should really sit down and decided what they would like in terms of the look they are going for and what plants they would like to use.
Shelton and other garden experts say that if you are unsure as to what plants will work in the climate in which you live, then take a trip to your local garden center or nursery and ask the experts there what types of plants they recommend that you use, to ensure your garden is a success.
For gardeners who are new to the hobby, try and keep things on the simpler side. If you are trying to do it yourself, you can end up with better results in the end, but also don't be afraid to get some help from a local landscape design firm. They can help you out with this process.
If when you do get your garden planted and it looks a little bare, remember that when the plants grow the spaces will fill in and it will look much better.
To help local gardeners who both inexperienced and experienced out, on Saturday, March 19, the Niles District Library and the Niles Garden Club will be holding their second annual garden party.
There will be presentations on how to design your own garden, container gardening, how to make your garden friendly to birds and butterflies and native plants, and also a presentation for children about how to plant seeds.
