Dowagiac City Council this week renewed for three years an audit services contract with Berthiaume and Co. of Saginaw.
The proposal called for no increase in the first year and an average 2-percent increase in the second and third years, or $19,900, $20,300 and $20,700 in 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07, respectively.
Kenneth A. Berthiaume's previous three-year contract expired Sept. 30, 2004.
Berthiaume has been examining, on a test basis, evidence supporting the amounts and disclosures in the city's financial statements since the period beginning with the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 1993.
